MAX from 2 Broke Girls

10 reasons we love Max from 2 Broke Girls

Bold on the outside, soft on the inside- The character of Max seems tough on the show, but we all love one thing about her - she isn’t some cold-hearted girl from Brooklyn, she has a lot of character she hides well behind her jokes. Though she doesn’t show it, she genuinely cares for people, whether it’s letting Caroline move in with her, hugging Oleg when he was sad, and her genuine concern for Earl. In the episode “And the Broken Hearts”, in Season 1, Max shows her kind and softer side when Earl was having a heart attack. I mean isn’t something we all adore in a person.

She isn't afraid to stand up for herself- I fell in love with the character in the first scene of the pilot episode itself- where Max teaches two annoying customers some manners on how to behave with a waitress. Throughout the series, she has been portrayed as someone who is not shy about saying what she feels and believes in. Example: She addresses the concern of an increase in the price of tampons by his diner manager Han and fights until she gets what she wants. She is bold, confident, and knows how to get things done.

She doesn’t try to impress anyone- One of the many reasons why we love Max is because she does not use cajolery, deception, or manipulation to seek what she wants. Nor does she say sugar-coated stuff to make someone feel better or anything for that matter. She has no filter and that is what makes her true to herself and others as well. She is brutally honest, street smart, and says outright what’s in her mind.

She doesn’t need to impress anybody, as all these things make her all the more impressive.

She is not a quitter: For this particular reason, we don’t just love Max, but we respect her. Despite coming from a poor background and a no-care attitude, she is honest, loyal, and strong. She works multiple jobs to make meet ends and never quits especially when challenged. Example: In the episode “And the Pretty Problem” in Season One, Max took a cake-decorating class, but was told to quit as she was unable to make a rose topping. She then practiced the whole night to master the skill, despite having a different definition of what pretty is.

It’s hard for her to console people- Max does not socialize, make friends, do parties, or smile at random strangers on the street. Let's just say she is not much of a people person. If you cry in front of her or tell her your sad story, she is simply going to step aside and let you have some privacy and space. Such situations make her feel uncomfortable and she doesn’t know how to react or talk someone out of it. It kind of looks funny and cute, whenever she does that in the show.

She has an excellent sense of humor- Max is bold, funny, witty, and sarcastic. She uses dark humor to insult people and deal with difficult situations. She sometimes comes off as slightly cold and bitter, but she tries to hide it with her sarcasm as her emotional shield. There are rare instances where you can see her being vulnerable or emotional.

She can talk to horses- Max may not gel with people much, but she sure can be friends with your horses especially if they are named Chestnut. She will talk to them, feed them carrots, and also take them for walks. Isn’t it sweet?

Not just horses, she also loves dogs and stray cats. This should be it! I mean what more reason one would want to love her.

Need some help, count Max in- She is a very wise and mature girl, as often many people go to her when they are sad, have some problems, or need some piece of advice. She gives the best advice to people in need. Example- She gives a piece of great advice when Caroline needed to raise money to help her father in the prison.

She is talented- Max has many talents- she can cook, clean, babysit, and more. She is an excellent cupcake baker but is unaware of her capabilities. She is intelligent and filled with strong wits but sometimes downplays it. She is a complete package to be precise.

She is a good friend- Max has always been a good friend to Caroline, Earl, Sophie, Oleg, and Han among others even if she uses her sarcasm to make fun of them sometimes. She apologizes whenever she is wrong- as seen in the episode “And the Upstairs Neighbor”, when Max accidentally called Sophie a prostitute she goes to her apartment with cupcakes to say sorry.

Also, in the episode “And the Blind Spot”, in Season 1, where Sophie thinks Caroline is of no use, Max defends her friend. She also confronts David (the doctor) who rejects Caroline. We all need a friend like her.
